In the year 2000

A group of parents facing cancer diagnosed in their children decided to come together to share their experience with those who were also living those difficult times to give them a voice of encouragement and a light of hope.

Fighting for the same goal and with an initial patrimony of one hundred and forty thousand Pesos contributed by the founders, on September 15, 2000, the Organization of Parents of Children with Cancer and Related Diseases - Opnicer was born, as recorded in the corresponding act of that date. On August 31, 2001, the District Health Secretariat of Bogotá, through Resolution No. 000874, granted Legal Status to the OPNICER Foundation as a Non-Profit Entity.

A few years later, the founders’ dream came true, and in 2017 our shelter for children with cancer located on Diagonal 1A # 8 – 40, Barrio Las Cruces, Bogotá, opened its doors for the first time.
