In the year 2000

A group of parents facing cancer diagnosed in their children decides to come together to share their experience with those parents who werealso living those difficult times, to give them a voice of encouragement and a light of hope.

Fighting for the same goal and with an initial patrimony of One Hundred and Forty Thousand Pesos contributed by the founders, on September 15, 2000, the Organization of Parents of Children with Cancer and Related Diseases - Opnicer was born, as recorded in the corresponding act ofthat date. On August 31, 2001, the District Health Secretariat of Bogotá, through Resolution No. 000874, granted Legal Status to the OPNICERFoundation as a Non-Profit Entity.

A few years later, the founders’ dream came true, and in 2017 our shelter for children with cancer located on Diagonal 1A # 8 – 40, Barrio LasCruces, Bogotá, opened its doors for the first time.
